Spitting School

*Enter Jacob blowing spit bubbles*

Mommy: Jacob, stop blowing spit bubbles. Where did you learn that?

Jacob: I learned it at spitting school.

Mommy: At spitting school?

Jacob: Yes, I learned it at spitting school where they teach you how to blow really big bubbles with your spit.

Arboretum and Swimming!

I decided to take the kids to the Arboretum here in Dallas last week. Definitely not the smartest idea in the middle of summer, but I had to get out of the house and the kids definitely had fun!

Carissa just looked too cute to not get a few pictures here at the house before we left...

We went swimming with some friends of ours last Sunday. Faith has learned to swim underwater, and Jacob can swim really well with his floaties on! Carissa can't do much of anything in the water except be absolutely adorable!

Visiting Friends in Arkansas

This past weekend we visited some good friends of ours who live close to Little Rock, AR. We had a blast and wanted to post some of the pictures from the trip. Our friends have 195 acres of BEAUTIFUL land with hills and cliffs and creeks. It was wonderful. Anyway, here are some pictures of the trip!

They had four horses that we got to ride! Faith was really excited about riding a horse, but once she got close to the horses and they wanted to smell her, she didn't like it quite as much. She rode with Ryan for a little bit and then wanted off.

On Saturday we went to Mountain View, AR which is a really neat town with a downtown square where several bluegrass musicians come to play on the street! This is an old soda fountain shop in Mountain View.

We went on a family vacation when I was around Faith's age and my parents bought me a corn-cob pipe. So I just had to get one for the kids.

The kids are trying to stick their hip out (that's how I was in my five year old Arkansas picture). Faith couldn't stop laughing at her brother.

Our family at the old-timey soda fountain shop.

One of the daughters of the family we stayed with is a fiddler! She has only been playing for one year and she is AWESOME! This is her playing with one of the bluegrass bands in Mountain View.

We had constant babysitters during our time! Someone wanted to hold Carissa all the time.

Ryan has been wanting to learn to play the bass guitar for YEARS and he finally bought one while we were on our trip.

Jacob Quote

Jacob: "Daddy, I need to tell you something."
Daddy: "What is it?"
Jacob: "I'm too big for my bed" (Jacob is two, and sleeps on a twin size bed)
Daddy: "Where are you going to sleep?"
Jacob: "I need to sleep on the couch, I'm too big for my bed."

Jacob at age two on 3/13/08 at bedtime. Where do they come up with this stuff???

Superman and family

Happy Birthday Daddy!!! Ryan turned the big 3-0 on February 6th. We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse (which is definitely one of the best restaurants ever!) and then came back home for cake... yellow cake with chocolate icing (Ryan's favorite).

Faith had remembered that Ryan said that he didn't have any gloves, so she wanted to surprise him with some for his birthday!

Train ride before bed! Ryan is so good at playing with the kids! They love playing with their Daddy so much.

Faith loves holding Carissa in whatever way she can... sitting up or laying down.

They love their little sister!

Videos Of The Kids

Here is the video of Carissa. It is of her swinging in the greatest invention ever! It plays music, vibrates, and swings 4 different ways. If only it would feed her too! =)

This next video is of Faith playing Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano.

The next two videos are of Jacob singing Mary Had A Little Lamb (or his rendition of it!) Make sure to watch the first video first. Notice the change between "sweet boy" and, well... =)

(The second video is actually his "Tiger Voice")

Faith Quotes

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Faith:

We were in the car and Faith was somewhere between 3 and 4. We told her we were having roast for dinner and this is what she said:

"Roast! I love roast! You kill cows and then you eat 'em!"

------------------------------------

Faith talking to the Carissa in my belly at 9 months pregnant:

"I love you baby! I can't wait to give you kisses and bring you to Starbucks!"

------------------------------------

Me to Faith: "Faith, it's time to lay down."

Faith to me: "But Mommy, when I lay down it makes me go to sleep."

------------------------------------

Faith, making up a song about snow:

"It snows in Oklahoma. It snows in China. It snows everywhere except in Bryan, Texas."

Update

Well, Carissa is doing great! She has been sleeping well at night (unlike my first two) so that has been a HUGE help (especially since there is not the possibility of a nap during the day!) Faith and Jacob are so excited to have a little sister. When she wakes up and cries during the day they both run to the back to try to get there first and put her "binky" back in her mouth.

Yesterday was my first day at home all day with all three kids. I think I did okay. I feel bad that I have to sit in the cushiony chairs most of the day, but that will only last another week or so I think. I actually got some school done with Faith so that was exciting! I'm still not sure if we are going to do schoolwork in the morning or the afternoon... we'll just play it by ear. I was wondering how school would work with 3 kids, but I think it's going to work out well.

Here are some more pictures...
